Join Justice in Action in advocating for expansion of our County’s successful diversion programs by joining us on “Revolution Monday”, Monday, April 14th at 11:30am at the City/County Building on 10th St.

For those of us in the Christian tradition, this is the day in Holy Week on which Jesus confronted the powers-that-be in the religious/political/economic system of the temple in Jerusalem for their oppression of the poor and marginalized. As modern scholars and the biblical record show, it was a premeditated, strategically thought-out direct action, which shut down the temple for the day.

For our Jewish friends, this action is during Passover, Jewish holiday that commemorates the Exodus, when the Hebrews were freed from slavery in Egypt. It is a holiday centered on breaking the chains of oppression and celebrating freedom, making it a natural time to call attention to modern injustices and systemic oppression.

We are asking you to sign your name on a strip of paper (during or after worship) that will be added to a giant paper prayer chain with members of all Justice in Action faith communities. This giant chain will be unveiled during the Revolution Monday action on Monday, April 14th at 11:30am at the City/County Building on 10th St. We hope to see you there!

Hello!

I am emailing to invite you to Justice in Action’s Revolution Monday Action on Monday, April 14th at 11:30am at the City/County Building (575 S 10th St.) We have not yet received a confirmation from our County Attorney, Pat Condon, after delivering the invitation to the Nehemiah Action in November and having some email communication with him in late January. To continue to keep expansion of diversion front of mind in our community and the press, we’ve decided to hold an action on “Revolution Monday”. This is the day dedicated to Jesus’ fight for justice as he flipped over the tables at the Temple. For our Jewish friends, this action is during the week of Passover, a holiday celebrating freedom, making it a natural time to call attention to modern injustices. We will have a few speakers and unveil a giant paper chain with signatures from members of Justice in Action faith communities.

Your support would mean a lot! Let me know if you can make it.

Thank you!
