Language to include in your faith community’s bulletin or newsletter:

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminds us that "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." As we honor his legacy, we gather not only to reflect on his enduring call for justice but also to acknowledge the lives of those within our jails—people whose voices and stories are often left in the shadows.

This vigil is an opportunity to stand together as a community united in compassion, hope, and a shared commitment to justice. Through the power of collective presence, we will honor Dr. King’s vision of a more equitable world while lifting up the dignity and humanity of those impacted by incarceration.

Join us as we shine a light on the darkness of injustice and affirm the values of mercy, equity, and solidarity. Let this vigil serve as both a moment of reflection and a call to action as we continue to work to expand access to diversion and connect people to the resources they need.

Join us on Sunday, January 19th at 6pm at the Lancaster County Jail at 3801 W O St. Please use the “Visitor’s Entrance”. It will be cold, but the program will be no longer than 20 or 25 minutes! Dress warm and show up for justice!

Hello!

I am emailing to invite you to Justice in Action’s MLK Jr. Prayer Vigil on Sunday, January 19th at 6pm at the Lancaster County Jail (3801 W O St.) We’re raising awareness about the overcrowding crisis at Lancaster County Jail, where most people are being held pre-trial, many simply because they can’t afford bail. We are also gathering to reflect and honor the call for justice given by MLK Jr. If you are able to attend, please use the “Visitor’s Entrance”. We will be outside and it will be cold, but the program will be no longer than 20 or 25 minutes! Dress warm and show up for justice!

Your support would mean a lot! Let me know if you can make it.

Thank you!
