Longest Night 12-Hour Prayer Vigil

Longest Night 12-Hour Prayer Vigil
Sunday, December 21st from noon - midnight
City/County Building, 575 S 10th St. Yes, we will be outside, dress warm!

Join us on the longest night of the year for a 12-hour outdoor prayer vigil, as we stand together in hope, solidarity, and reflection. From 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM, faith communities of Justice in Action will each take responsibility for one hour of prayer and presence. Come during your congregation’s assigned hour—or stop by any time to participate. There will be a prayer 12 minutes after the hour, every hour. Each faith community can use the hour how they’d like! Consider bringing joy and light into this dark season - lead a song, bring warm drinks to share, and enjoy fellowship time.

At 5:00 PM, all are invited to gather for a Longest Night Service, acknowledging the struggles, separation, and longing felt by many during this season.

Our shared goals for this vigil:

  • Pray for change in our systems, and for all those away from their families during Christmas and Hanukkah.

  • Raise awareness in our community about the urgent need—and real opportunity—for diversion.

Bundle up, bring a candle or lantern if you wish, and join us as we hold light together in the longest night.
